HE's here!!

Hammond James Hargather arrived on Wednesday night, 3.21.12 at 10:30pm, after quite the day.  We are so excited he's here.  More details to come, but for now, here are some precious photos of our sweet little man!

a few random thoughts

...for the day before we become parents.

- I've never been admitted to a hospital before.  So, I've never had an IV before.  And I've never slept in one of those beds.  Or had to eat their food.  Or not been able to eat or drink for a whole day.

- I still feel like we're 18 years old, and in no way ready to be parents.  And then I remember that we're 30.  That's old.  And definitely screams parenthood. :)

- I got to Skype my brother and sister-in-law in Madagascar today.  Wishing they could be here with us to celebrate, but they've got a much more exciting life!  We do get to see them in May, tho, when they finally come home (for at least a year!).

- Our last meal as a parentless couple was Verde.  And it couldn't have been a more perfect night for sitting on the front porch.

- I'm probably a little more anxious about having a baby now that the labor is planned.  Interesting how that happens, huh?

- I bought a pair of normal jeans today.  And they're actually skinny jeans.  Isn't that the biggest no no for a pregnant woman?  They were just so adorable, bright, and such a good deal!  I couldn't pass it up.  And I can always return them, right?

- I know that I'll be grateful that Scout is going to be having fun on a farm this first week of crazy parenthood for us, but I'm kind of sad that he's going.

- I really, really, really can't believe that we are going to be parents tomorrow.  We get to meet our little boy or girl, and life will forever change.  But I'm so grateful for this opportunity.  Can't wait to let you know who it is that's been taking residence in my belly for the past 10 months!!

we're still here

After one crazy, busy work week, daily walks, and plenty of moving around...we're still pregnant!  I guess this little babe is just happy and snug in there.  I think the funniest thing is that Jamie and I had been making the most of our last nights together...for the past week!  I guess it's kind of nice to appreciate your time together, but at this point, it's slightly humorous.  One added bonus is all of the things we've been able to get lots of work done around the house, tho.  (Seriously, I've been washing cars, cleaning like crazy, doing yard work...and baby is staying put!)

We do have an end in sight, tho, as we'll be induced this Wednesday if it doesn't happen before then.  Of course, we are so excited about meeting our little son our daughter (it's still weird saying that!), but I'm not gonna lie...I'm a little anxious about it.  Especially now that it's most likely going to be a planned thing.  Just praying through any of the feelings of doubt, given that I know there's going to be nothing like being parents.  I really can't wait to see Jamie as a dad!!

Anyhow, this is one random post, but I'll wrap up with a few photos from this weekend.  We ended up making the short trip to Carrollton on Saturday night, to help surprise my brother-in-law, Tee, on his 40th birthday.

Due Date

Happy Due Date to us....now where's the baby?!

Today was the day, and still no sign of Baby Hargather.

We even tried the eggplant parmesan trick at Scalini's on Friday night.  The story is that if you have their eggplant parmesan dish, you'll go into labor within 48 hours.  That would have been last night.  Oh well!

We did manage to have a great time, tho!

While many people have told me how frustrating and discouraging it is to be late, I'm actually doing just fine with it.  I mean, I'm definitely ready to meet our sweet baby, but I'm also soaking up life without baby while we can.  Time with Jamie, finishing up work, a flexible schedule, SLEEP!  :)  I may be singing a different tune one week from now, but for the moment we'll just keep doing life while we wait.

this will NOT be me

Just for the record, don't expect to be seeing any photos of Jamie and I like these of Jessica Simpson and her beau.  Really?  And I won't even post the cover of Elle magazine (you can see if for yourself here).  Yet, they wonder why we're all up in their personal biz...

I know you're all seriously disappointed, but I promise I'll make it up to you somehow.

showers

During these past few months, we have definitely been "showered" with lots of fun celebrations for Baby Hargather!  Each one was so different, but they all brought lots of friends and family together as we prepare to meet our sweet baby.  Here is a snapshot of the three that we were given.

The first one was an Atlanta shower given by my sweet Hargather family, and a few Atlanta friends.  It was so fun to have my community of girls in Atlanta there to celebrate.  I am continually encouraged that this is the place we have chosen to be our home, and we are blessed by the people we get to do life with.  So grateful for such a great community for our baby to grow up surrounded by.

The second one was in Augusta and given by some of my long-time favorite people - both of my sisters, my amazing aunts, the friend that I've known since we were in the crib together, Kathryn, and her mama, Mimi.  As infrequently as I get to see some of these folks, I am always so grateful for who they've been in my life.  And how we can all pick up where we left off like no time has passed.  They really have shaped who I am, and I'm so glad they will be a part of our baby's life when we visit.

The last one was given by one of the most talented and creative people I know, the lovely Dawn Gahan.  Dawn is a dear friend that I've had the privilege of working with for the past 4 1/2 years.  She's not only a co-worker to all of us, but she's pretty much the office therapist.  The glue that holds us all together.  Seriously, if it weren't for Dawn, I'm not sure where we'd all be.  And, as you've witnessed me blog about before, she is so talented.  Any shower, party, or celebration that she is a part of includes the most loving and particular details.  She doesn't miss a thing!

For more photos of all the details, see Dawn's blog post!

We've got most things washed, set up, and ready to go (well, with a few details still falling into place)!  Now we're just waiting on Baby Hargather to arrive. :)
