out and about

It took a little while, but we're finally figuring out how to get out of the house with the little bambino.  I'm figuring out what we need, and what we can do without (it's amazing how much baby stuff you can tag along with you, if you're not careful!).  And then timing all of that between feedings.  Moms really are heroes.  :)

3 years, 1 dog, + 1 baby later

Happy Anniversary to my favorite guy in the world!

It's hard to believe that after three years of marriage, one dog, and one baby later, here we are.  It has been an adventure that I feel so blessed to be a part of, and I'm so grateful for what an amazing husband (and father!) Jamie has been.  I won't paint you a picture that is all roses, as some of it has been hard.  But through every bit of it, I thank God that he gave me a partner for life in Jamie.  Full of self-control, kindness, goodness, and with a level head.  Who I really do believe makes us better together.

Here's to three years behind us and many, many more ahead!

one month

It's crazy how time can fly, and yet how it can drag on...all at the same time.  In some moments, I can hardly believe that our little guy is ONE month old!  And in others, it feels like we've been doing this for a while (mostly when we're trying to get through the night!).

Of course, I had to get a few photos of him in his glider with a one month sign...to document his growth over the months!  (Right after I changed him, clothed him, and put him in the chair, he spit up everywhere!)  We go to the pediatrician on Wednesday for his month check up, so the stats will have to come later...although I know you're all dying to hear.

i love this photo.  and i love that one of our guy friends commented on
how cute it was that he was laughing.  i wish he had been laughing!

what's in a name

Before we ever thought about having children, I knew that when faced with the decision of what to name our child, I wanted to keep it all in the family.  I think there's something pretty special about having meaning behind a name, and I also happen to love names that are unique.  As a matter of fact, my friend, Emily, led me to the Social Security website that lets you see just how popular (or unpopular) a name is.  Check out Hammond's...

guess that makes his name pretty original!

After Jamie and I were married, we had the conversation about using all family names, and I told him how much I loved his mom's maiden name, Hammond.  Turns out, he loved it too.  We'd even occasionally talk to our pretend child "Hammond" when we were just goofing off (or being weirdos, as that kind of makes it sound!).  Once we were actually faced with the decision of what to name our child, we knew what the boy option would be.

The really crazy thing....turns out, Hammond was actually born on the same day that Jamie's grandparents were married years ago.  That's right.  Hammond was born on the Hammond's anniversary.  How crazy is that?  Especially consider two factors...we had no idea if our baby would be a boy or a girl, and he came 1 1/2 weeks late!  Turns out to be a pretty neat story.

And, of course, you can imagine where we got James from.  While we knew there wouldn't be a James David Hargather, Jr., there is something special about having a son named after his daddy.

So, Hammond James it was!

parents aren't only exhausted ones around here

we're still here!

We're still here, and I realize this post is going to be quite disappointing with no new photos of Hammond to share.  But, I just wanted to ask that you bear with us as we transition into this new phase of parenthood.  We are loving our sweet lil' man, but I'm not gonna lie - parenthood is no joke.

Oh alright, I can't leave you with no photos.  Here are a few from my phone..
