thoughtfulness

Although we said no gifts for this anniversary, my sweet husband surprised me with some of my favorite things. There's nothing I appreciate more than thoughtfulness. It doesn't take much...actually all it takes is knowing that he actually thought in advance. :) Really!

an orchid, jelly bellies, and raspberry Izzies!

Then we had a super, yummy dinner at Bistro Niko. If you've never been to this French inspired Buckhead spot, you have to try it! It's even worth going just to order the mussels. Delish! Thankfully, we had stocked up on BL gift cards, so we could splurge. Plus, when we got to the restaurant, we had champagne and steak tartare waiting for us - courtesy of Jamie's sweet mom, sister, and Mimi!

Here's to Year 3, and many, many more!

Easter Sunday

The angel spoke to the women: "There is nothing to fear here. I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said."
We had a really great Easter - introducing the dogs, hanging out by the pool, eating some delicious meals, and giving thanks for a gracious God who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

San Fran, Sonoma, + a big birthday!

California was a blast! Yes, this is my 4th trip to California in the past two years (lucky me!), but this time it was to celebrate my mama and a big birthday she had! We spent most of our time in San Francisco and Sebastopol (a small, hippie town in Sonoma), and even ventured as far as Napa (Carneros and St. Helena).

While we tried to simplify the photo-taking and take most w/ mom's camera, I did manage to snap a few with my own. California, specifically Sonoma and Napa, might be known for wine country, but it also has some of the most amazing views, food, wine, and people (from hippie to pretentious to classy, and so on). Big thanks to our friend, Robin, and her sweet family. She has two beautiful homes that she shared with us, and we so enjoyed spending time with her family!

weekend pictures

Even though I was holed up most of the weekend, I did manage to get out some.

Rich stayed with us Thursday - Sunday, and is now officially
part of the family. Plus, I'm glad J had a friend while I was out sick!

Worst timing to be sick ever. This was just one of the amazing meals
we had. Ribs from mama's friends in Memphis, flown in from Rendezvous.
I love that Hutton had no reservations!!

Oyster Roast on Saturday night...
The grill master and his mama!

It was serious business for the chefs
(whose back of their heads are identical!)

I couldn't resist the oysters

Neither could anyone else...including the kids!

We finished off the night with some line dancing

numbers

1 - The amount of times Scout whimpered in the middle of the night while we were in Augusta...impressive, huh?

2 - The number of strokes that the 2nd place winners fell behind at the final round of the Masters yesterday.

3 - The number of places that Scout chewed through the cord to my hair straightener. (It's still remains a mystery as to how he got out of his crate at my parents' while we were gone, but at least that was all the damage done!)

4 - The number of times Scout's peed in the house since we've had him (we'll take the blame).

5 - The number of days that I was sick with the stomach bug. Over Masters week. Boo.

6 - The number of days that I'll be in California with my sisters and mom, starting this Wednesday!

Think I'll end with a good note. Pictures to come!

the lil' furry guy

Day 1 + 2, Scout really was the most chilled back, amazing doggy you'd met.

Day 3, the puppy in him started coming out. He's still pretty chill at times, is doing fairly well with his crate training, and he's sleeping through the night. But he is definitely teething right now...on everything. Furniture. Toys. His crate. Us. Of course, he is a puppy.

That being said, Jamie and I are pretty serious about training him to be a well-behaved dog. We're still trying to figure out the exact route we'll go, but for the time being, we're doing what we know! I just bought Karen Pryor's book, Don't Shoot the Dog, which came highly recommended by Dawn and Courtney (who both have really great dogs and who have both been trained through Highland Pet).

He does still melt my heart when he's curled up at our feet (chewing on something that was meant to be chewed on!).

We're heading to Augusta in a few hours to spend some time with the family and hopefully watch a little golf. Here's hoping Scout can behave while we're there!!

the weekend

I told you on Friday that we were expecting to have a lot of fun this weekend. Well, fun is an understatement.

Fun #1 - Surprising my mama for her 60th birthday. Over 100 people came to celebrate her. It was a blast, and for once in her life, she was actually speechless.

More to come re: party.

Fun #2 - J and I became parents. To this adorable guy....

Meet Mr. Orange Winston Scout Hargather, III
(but, you can call him Scout)

that's right, we got a pup! and this is him
melting my heart the first meeting

family portrait

Scout's pick-up day just happened to coincide w/ the
date for mom's party. But, he did amazing. Actually,
he did a whole lot of this...cuddle and sleep!

of course, these guys were a huge help at caring
for him, and wearing him out!

isn't he the cutest thing?!

on Sunday, we went to watch Jamie, Lucas, and
Victor hit the tennis ball at the park...he was so interested

and he's had lots of visitors

of course, he had to come in and meet the other pups
of Unbou, especially while he's still their size.
he told me he can't wait to be back at the office for good.

he also helped me return some emails

We really are so excited, and if you know me, you know that a dog is a BIG step for me. But, so far, he has been the sweetest, most laid back puppy I've ever seen. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he is so dang CUTE!!

Come by if you want to meet him! We like visitors :)

fun fun fun

We have some really fun things planned for this weekend!! Would also be fun to share with you all (all 3 of you!) right now. But you know what I think will be even more fun?!

Telling you on Monday!

Happy happy weekend, friends!
