legacy

My brother walking Mema down the aisle at my wedding

This morning, we said goodbye to one of the most beautiful southern women that I've known: Louise Herrington Allen (also known as, Mema). She turned 88 years old yesterday, and I think she decided that it was finally time for her to join Papa. I've got so many thoughts on this sweet woman, and on their generation as a whole, but I'm heading out to join family as we celebrate her life. Rest easy, Mema. And tell Papa hey.

I'm sorry for your loss. Grandmas are the best. I lost one of mine almost two years ago, and I miss her like freaking crazy. She is also now with her husband (who passed away in '72), so I know they're living it up... dancing, bowling and just generally having fun. :) I'm sure the reunion of your grandparents was awesome. xo

Molly,

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mema. Grandparents are such a special gift and it's hard to let them go. My Mimi passed away last Monday. I spent a week down in FL and family time was just what everyone needed. We will be thinking about you and your family during this time.

Thank you both for your sweet words. Kristin, we have loved thinking about my Mema and Papa square dancing in heaven! And Greer, we are also soaking up all of the family time we have. As sad as it is, we are celebrating her life and enjoying telling old stories. Again, appreciate the thoughts and prayers! Love to you both.
